I am beginning to see one of the blessings that may come from this newly restricted lifestyle. I am hearing more from my daughters than I have in years! Lyse called with an update informing that she would be working from home as a result of virus concerns. In the process of the call, we learned that she was beginning to feel a bit lonely. Social isolation was a whole different story when you are on your own, isolated with two large dogs, no matter how much you adore them.
The next day, Sunday, we celebrated our worship service for the second time online. Both John and I have appreciated the amazing job our pastoral staff are doing in adapting worship for the internet. Yes, we miss the fellowship, the hugs, the ability to sit together in praise of our God. But we did feel that we were staying in touch and that was so helpful.
Though all Income Tax deadlines had been moved to July 15th, John was anxious to complete all forms. So we spent the afternoon completing our tallies. Completing all forms, we chalked that assignment off our to-do list as complete and filed it all away. No rush to mail: we will owe this year. Now all we have to do is remember to mail it come July 15!
I looked forward to bedtime devotions with Kate and Lily this evening. I had prepared especially for tonite by choosing a story for each one of them, knowing Kate would be intrigued with both. As we nestled down for a good read, I successfully read through Lily’s book maintaining her focus throughout! Then I began to read Kate’s book. She was totally engaged, as was I! The artwork was beautiful. Suddenly the screen went blank and I lost contact. Devastated, I scrambled to figure out what went wrong. Very quickly there was a text from Meghan. Her phone had died. No more juice! But it’s OK, Grandma, she continued. Kate is fine. She’s already settled down and going to sleep.
Kate might have been fine, but I was devastated!
