headache, pain, ache

3/26-27/20 Fever!

Thankfully the call came in the middle of the day and not in the evening.  I would not have slept.  Lyse was running a fever, or so she thought.  She had no thermometer to check it, but felt very uncomfortably warm.

Then came the rest of the story…   Lyse’s close co-worker, Carol, with whom she had spent days of work time together, had gone into the ER for COVID testing.  Today, her test came back positive.  Yet, her symptoms were not significant enough to keep her in the hospital and she was sent home with restrictions, instructions and limitations.  All fellow workers were notified that they would be on professional leave, would quarantine for two weeks for observation and all would now work from home.

‘Be Still and KNOW that I am God. He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High WILL REST in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord” He is my refuge and my fortress— my God— in Him will I trust.’

Having discovered that my own firstborn is likely struggling with COVID 19, this Mama is struggling to ‘Be still and KNOW!’ I long to rest ‘in the shadow of the Almighty’—just as soon as I make sure my daughter is taking her vitamins.  And I must somehow get her a thermometer since her fevers are awakening her at 3 AM and this 48 year old single woman just ‘did without’ a thermometer all these years.  And I must let her church know that she is ‘in need’ because likely she won’t think to ask.  And she is ALONE.   She is very. far. away.

And what if…

“BE STILL and KNOW.  (She) who dwells in the shelter of the Most High WILL REST in the shadow of the Almighty,”

“Lord, I surrender this troubled heart to your will.  In YOUR sovereignty, YOU have allowed circumstances in which I can do nothing but trust you.  Trust You.   And rest in your shadow.  In this day, may Elyse see that You alone are meeting her every need!

And in this day, may I see that You alone are meeting her every need.  And may I say of the Lord, ‘He is why refuge and my fortress.. my God, in whom I trust!’   Psalm 91, Psalm 46:10
